Transracial Adoption & Family Therapy

Transracial adoption is both an individual and a family experience. I work with children, teens, and families navigating the complexities of transracial adoption, where issues of identity, belonging, and connection can be challenging to navigate.

This work goes beyond addressing behavior or communication; it involves understanding how race, identity, and lived experiences shape a child's self-perception and interactions with the world around them. Many of these feelings are not openly expressed, but they can be deeply felt, often revealing themselves over time in subtle ways through reactions, relationships, and one's sense of self.

A key part of my work is helping to bring these experiences to light so they can be understood and addressed in a supportive manner. As a Black therapist, I bring a lived and cultural understanding to discussions about identity, belonging, and connection within the context of transracial adoption.

My goal is to support both children and families in feeling more grounded, understood, and connected as they navigate these experiences together.

If you are navigating transracial adoption and want support, you can schedule a consultation.

We can talk through what is coming up and find a way forward that feels more connected for your family.
